95.Rescue

(1)Any person who by force rescues or attempts to rescue from lawful custody any other person—

(a)who is under sentence of death or imprisonment for life, or who is charged with an offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life, commits a felony and is liable, on conviction, to imprisonment for life;

(b)who is imprisoned on a charge or under sentence for any offence other than an offence specified in paragraph (a) commits a felony and is liable, on conviction, to imprisonment for a term of seven years; and

(c)in any other case, commits a misdemeanour.

(2)If the person rescued is in the custody of a private person, the offender shall have notice of the fact that the person rescued is in such custody.
